Hayri AVCI has had intensive education on Multiple Management. He has been lecturing on this field. The source of his company’s performance is Hayri AVCI’s SWOT Analysis performed in 2004 by himself and the strategy based on this analysis.

With the SWOT Analysis Hayri AVCI has changed the luck of TÜLOMSAŞ. The company, whose strategy based on SWOT, has been able to manufacture the state-of-the-art locomotives.

Turkish Locomotive and Machine Industy,Inc. (TÜLOMSAŞ) is one of the pioneer companies on laying rails. The revenue growth of TÜLOMSAŞ started in 2004 and has went on up today and reached 175 million dollars at the end of 2008. Especially, the year 2004 when the reveavue took off from 95 million dollars to 130 million dollars. In fact, he points out that this is not a coincidence as it was the year in which the SWOT Analysis, establishing the weakness and strength of any business, was implemented and TÜLOMSAŞ Developing Plan based on this analysis was prepared. Mr. AVCI became the General Manager of TÜLOMSAŞ only a year after this analysis.

The computers containing the necessary softwares have been handed in from managers to foreman to be able to use technology efficiently. All engineers have been trained on English. The employees have been sent to sectoral fairs abroad so that they can improve their knowledge about new technological developments.

During this period, TÜLOMSAŞ decided to produce whole products instead of parts. TÜLOMSAŞ has made a Strategic Partnership Agreement with GENERAL ELECTRIC, so TÜLOMSAŞ has reached the Europen level.

The range of products is not only locomotives but also the designs and productions of electronic scales, mechanical street sweepers and the productions of carries powered by batteries. The signature of all these products belongs to Hayri AVCI. TÜLOMSAŞ is the first state company that applied the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) in 2008.

AVCI thinks that following up scientific publisment and constant education play an important role on his success. He also adds that the other factors of being successful are caring technology and quality, criticize oneself and to be open-minded to be criticized, working with people who think objective ways and successful in their jobs.

TÜLOMSAŞ has ISO14001 Enviromental Management System and OHSAS Occupational Health and Safety Certificates and has began to carry out the Lean Production System all over the company.

Turkey’s high participating rate on international railway market is Mr. AVCI’s dream fort he future. Among the Company’s goals are reaching 1 billion turnover in the year 1923 when Turkish Republic was founded, being a world brand, funding at least 250 million Euro to the sub-industry and creating a sector where about 30 thousand people work.
